The term "certification" is substituted for
"registration" in light of the definition of
"certificate" in § 17-101 of this title.
In subsection (b) of this section, the phrase
"that meet the standards set by the Board" is
substituted for the phrases "satisfactory
experience" and "experience satisfactory to the
Board" to clarify the duty of the Board to set
standards.
In subsection (b)(l)(ii) of this section, the
phrase "that meets the education standards set by
the Board" is substituted for the term
"acceptable" to clarify the duty of the Board to
set education standards.
Subsection (c) of this section is standard
language added to this and, where necessary,
corresponding sections of other titles of this
article to state expressly that if an applicant
for certification is required to take an
examination under this subtitle, then the
applicant must pass the examination before the
applicant is eligible for certification.
The examination requirements of present Art. 43,
§ 727 now appear in § 17-305 of this subtitle.
Present Art. 43, § 726(d)(9), which relates to
the Board reviewing applications for
certification and which provides for
discretionary waiver for applications received
before July 1, 1970, is deleted as obsolete in
part, and, to the extent that it is not obsolete,
as unnecessary in light of the more specific
provisions of this section and § 17-303 of this
subtitle.
17-303. CERTIFICATION QUALIFICATIONS FOR SANITARIANS IN
TRAINING.
(A) GENERAL PROVISION.
TO QUALIFY FOR CERTIFICATION AS A SANITARIAN IN
TRAINING, AN APPLICANT SHALL BE AN INDIVIDUAL WHO MEETS THE
REQUIREMENTS OF THIS SECTION.
(B) ALTERNATIVE TRAINING REQUIREMENTS.
AN APPLICANT QUALIFIES TO TAKE THE EXAMINATION REQUIRED
BY SUBSECTION (C) OF THIS SECTION IF THE APPLICANT GRADUATES
FROM AN ACCREDITED COLLEGE OR UNIVERSITY WITH:
(1) A BACCALAUREATE DEGREE IN ENVIRONMENTAL
SCIENCE OR IN THE NATURAL SCIENCES;
