17-302. CERTIFICATION QUALIFICATIONS FOR REGISTERED
SANITARIANS.

(A)  IN GENERAL.

TO QUALIFY FOR CERTIFICATION AS A REGISTERED
SANITARIAN, AN APPLICANT SHALL BE AN INDIVIDUAL WHO MEETS
THE REQUIREMENTS OF THIS SECTION.

(B)  ALTERNATIVE TRAINING REQUIREMENTS.

AN APPLICANT QUALIFIES TO TAKE THE EXAMINATION IF:

(1)  THE APPLICANT:

(I)  GRADUATES FROM AN ACCREDITED COLLEGE
OR UNIVERSITY WITH:

1.  A BACCALAUREATE DEGREE IN
ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCE OR IN THE NATURAL SCIENCES; OR

2.  A BACCALAUREATE DEGREE THAT
INCLUDES 30 SEMESTER CREDIT HOURS IN THE NATURAL SCIENCES
THAT MEET THE EDUCATION STANDARDS SET BY THE BOARD; AND

(II)  HAS AT LEAST 4 YEARS OF EXPERIENCE IN
ENVIRONMENTAL SANITATION THAT MEETS THE STANDARDS SET BY THE
BOARD, AND IN COMPUTING THIS EXPERIENCE, THE BOARD MAY NOT
GIVE MORE THAN 2 YEARS CREDIT FOR SATISFACTORY GRADUATE
STUDY IN ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCE;

(2)  THE APPLICANT:

(I)  GRADUATES FROM AN ACCREDITED COLLEGE
OR UNIVERSITY WITH A BACCALAUREATE DEGREE IN A FIELD OTHER
THAN ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCE OR THE NATURAL SCIENCES; AND

(II)  HAS AT LEAST 8 YEARS EXPERIENCE IN
ENVIRONMENTAL SANITATION THAT MEETS THE STANDARDS SET BY THE
BOARD; OR

(3)  THE APPLICANT HAS AT LEAST 12 YEARS OF
EXPERIENCE IN ENVIRONMENTAL SANITATION THAT MEETS THE
STANDARDS SET BY THE BOARD.

(C)  EXAMINATION.

EXCEPT AS OTHERWISE PROVIDED IN THIS TITLE, THE
APPLICANT SHALL PASS AN EXAMINATION GIVEN BY THE BOARD UNDER
THIS SUBTITLE.

without substantive change from the first two
clauses and the last sentence of Art. 43, §
727(1), the first two clauses of (2), and the
first clause of (3).
