TO QUALIFY FOR A LICENSE, AN APPLICANT SHALL BE AN
INDIVIDUAL WHO MEETS THE REQUIREMENTS OF THIS SECTION.

(B)  MORAL CHARACTER.

THE APPLICANT SHALL BE OF GOOD MORAL CHARACTER.

(C)  AGE.

THE APPLICANT SHALL BE AT LEAST 18 YEARS OLD.

(D)  EDUCATION.

THE APPLICANT SHALL:

(1)  HAVE COMPLETED AT LEAST 2 YEARS OF
INSTRUCTION IN A COLLEGE OF LIBERAL ARTS OR SCIENCES; AND

(2)  BE A GRADUATE OF A SCHOOL OR COLLEGE OF
PODIATRY OR CHIROPODY THAT IS ACCEPTABLE TO THE BOARD.

(E)  EXAMINATION.

EXCEPT AS OTHERWISE PROVIDED IN THIS TITLE, THE
APPLICANT SHALL PASS AN EXAMINATION GIVEN BY THE BOARD UNDER
THIS SUBTITLE.

(F)  EXPERIENCE.

THE BOARD MAY REQUIRE AN APPLICANT TO COMPLETE 1 YEAR
OF POSTGRADUATE CLINICAL TRAINING IN:

(1)  A HEALTH CARE FACILITY LICENSED OR APPROVED
BY THE DEPARTMENT;

(2)  A PROGRAM APPROVED BY THE COUNCIL ON
EDUCATION OF THE AMERICAN PODIATRY ASSOCIATION OR ITS
SUCCESSOR; OR

(3)  A PROGRAM APPROVED BY THE BOARD.

REVISOR'S NOTE: This section is new language derived
without substantive change from the first clause
of Art. 43, § 481(c)(2) and from Art. 43, § 487
— except the first part of the first sentence
and the entire third sentence of subsection (a)
of that section.

In subsection (d) of this section, the present
reference to high school education is deleted as
unnecessary in light of the more stringent
requirement that an applicant be a graduate of a
recognized school or college of podiatry or
chiropody.
