CHARTER AMENDMENT TO DELETE "AT-LARGE" VOTING FOR COUNCIL
MEMBERS AND PROVIDE FOR "WARD-ONLY"
VOTING FOR COUNCIL MEMBERS
[Section 73-3(c) and (e), of the Code of Public Local
Laws of Montgomery County, and Section 74-5(a) of the Code
of Public Local Laws of Prince George's County, being also
1.3(c) and (e) of the Charter of the City of Takoma Park,
repealed and reenacted, with amendments.

CITY CHARTER AMENDMENT
A RESOLUTION TO AMEND THE CHARTER OF THE CITY OF TAKOMA
PARK BY INCREASING THE MAXIMUM PENALTY IN SEC. 1.7(f) FROM
$100 TO $500.
WHEREAS, Article 23A, Sec. 3(a), of the Annotated Code
of Maryland, by amendment effective July 1, 1978, gives the
Mayor and Council the power to increase the maximum fine for
offenses punishable as misdemeanors from $100.00 to $500.00;
AND
WHEREAS, it is the desire of the Mayor and Council to
exercise the power granted to it so as to amend the City
Charter to provide that violation of ordinances of the City
punishable as a misdemeanor may be subject to a fine not to
exceed $500.00.
[Section 73-7(4) of the Code of Public Local Laws of
Montgomery County, and Section 74-9(1) of the Code of Public
Local Laws of Prince George's County, being also Sections
1.7(f) of the Charter of the City of Takoma Park, repealed
and reenacted, with amendments.
Effective Date November 12, 1980]
