(c) (i) If a member desires to continue his
employment [at the age of 70 years] AT THE END OF THE SCHOOL
YEAR FOLLOWING THE DATE ON WHICH HE ATTAINS THE AGE OF 70,
the member shall apply for continuation on an annual basis
on a form provided by the Secretary of Personnel. The
member shall submit the application for continuation of
employment not less than 30 nor more than 90 days prior to
THE END OF THE SCHOOL YEAR [becoming 70 years of age], to
[the State Board of Education, the State Superintendent of
Schools, or, in the case of higher education, to] the
member's appointing authority.

(1) (b) [(i) Except as provided in paragraph (ii) any]
ANY member in service who is 70 years old shall be retired
[on the first day of the next calendar month following the
attainment of age 70 provided that with the approval of the
State Board of Education or the State Superintendent of
Schools he may remain in service until] AT the end of the
school year following the date on which he becomes 70 years
old.
[(ii) Any member in service who teaches at
a State university or college or community college and who
is 70 years old may remain in service until the end of the
school year following the date on which he becomes 70 years
old.]

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act
shall take effect June 1, 1981.
