HARRY HUGHES, Governor

239

(4)  HAS HELD A LICENSE AND PRACTICED MORTUARY
SCIENCE ACTIVELY IN ANY OTHER STATE FOR A PERIOD OF 5 YEARS;
AND

(5)  HAS PRACTICED IN THIS STATE AS A LICENSED
APPRENTICE FOR AT LEAST 1 YEAR.

REVISOR'S NOTE: This section is new language derived
without substantive change from Art. 43, §§
352(a) and 356.

Subsections (a)(2)(i) and (b)(2) of this section
are new language added to reflect what presently
is only implied in the law — that an applicant
for a license must pay the fee required by the
Board.

6-306. APPRENTICE LICENSE; REQUIREMENTS FOR COMPLETION OF
APPRENTICESHIP.

(A)  APPRENTICE LICENSE REQUIRED.

AN INDIVIDUAL SHALL OBTAIN AN APPRENTICE LICENSE FROM
THE BOARD BEFORE BEGINNING AN APPRENTICESHIP IN THIS STATE.

(B)  APPRENTICE LICENSE FEE.

AN APPLICANT FOR AN APPRENTICE LICENSE SHALL PAY TO THE
BOARD A FEE OF $10.

(C)  SCOPE OF LICENSE.

WHILE THE LICENSE IS EFFECTIVE, AN APPRENTICE LICENSE
AUTHORIZES THE LICENSEE TO ASSIST A LICENSED MORTICIAN IN
THE PRACTICE OF MORTUARY SCIENCE ONLY AS PART OF A TRAINING
PROGRAM TO BECOME A LICENSED MORTICIAN.

REVISOR'S NOTE: This section is new language derived in
part from the first sentence of Art. 43, §
345(b), the first sentence of § 358, and the last
sentence of § 358, as that sentence relates to
the apprentice fees.

Subsection (c) of this section is new language
added to clarify what a licensed apprentice is
authorized to do. The new language makes express
what presently is only implied in the law — that
an apprenticeship is a limited practice of
mortuary science that is a part of a training
program. This addition and the requirement in
subsection (a) of this section that an apprentice
must be licensed is called to the attention of
the General Assembly.

As to the requirements for an apprenticeship, see
§ 6-302 of this subtitle.
