AN ACT concerning

State Leases - Notice to Members of General Assembly

FOR the purpose of requiring the Secretary of the Department
of General Services to notify certain members of the
General Assembly before accepting proposals for leases;
allowing those members to comment on the proposed
leases in certain circumstances; and clarifying
language.

BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,

Article 41 - Governor - Executive and

Administrative Departments
Section 231G-1
Annotated Code of Maryland
(1978 Replacement Volume and 1980 Supplement)

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That section(s) of the Annotated Code of Maryland
be repealed, amended, or enacted to read as follows:

Article 41 - Governor - Executive and
Administrative Departments

231G-1.

(a)  The Secretary of the Department of General
Services shall accept proposals for leases for office or
building space rental. The Secretary shall submit all the
proposals, along with his recommendations, to the Board of
Public Works for the Board's final approval, unless Board of
Public Works regulations provide otherwise.

(b) (1) (i) In this subsection the following words
have the meanings indicated.

(ii) "Department" means the State
Department of General Services.

(iii) {"Governing bodies" means a] "LOCAL
OFFICIALS" MEANS:

1. THE MEMBERS OF THE GENERAL

ASSEMBLY WHOSE DISTRICT INCLUDES THE SITE OF THE PROPOSED
LEASE;

2. THE county council, [or] county
commissioners[; and the municipal councils (by whatever name
known), if any;], or the Mayor and City Council of Baltimore
City, AS APPROPRIATE, FOR THE SITE OF THE PROPOSED LEASE;
AND

3. IF THE SITE OF THE PROPOSED LEASE

IS IN A MUNICIPALITY, THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE

MUNICIPALITY.
