Injurÿ and praÿs leave to Imprle untill next Court and theÿ hath it ye Same Day was Given the pltf allsoe att which Said next Court being on this 27th Daÿ of March anno Dñi 1705 The Said Defts apprs: in their prpr prsons and Saÿeth yt theÿ Can not Gainesaÿ ye pltf afsd in his accõn afsd Soe as afsd agt them brought and is therefore willing yt Judgt be Intd agt &ca Soe yt noe Execution ShallIssueagt them upon ye Said Judgt untill after the Eight Daÿ of 8ber next wch ye Sd pltf hearing Saÿeth yt he is willing yt Such a Conditionall Jugt maÿ be Intd &ca Which being bÿ ye Court and understood it is bÿ ye Justices here Consi =dered ys 27th Daÿ of March afsd that ye Sd Edward Ladÿmore recover agt ye Sd John Shaw & uxr as well Sume of five hundred pounds of tobacco ye Debt afsd as the Same pounds of tobo Cost of Suit that wth a Stay of Execution as afsd untill af and ye Defts in mercÿ &ca
Phillipson his attrÿ Saith yt whereas att a Session of assemblÿ begun & held att ye Towne & and Port of Annapolis ye 27th Daÿ of June & Ended Julÿ ye 22d in ye 11th year of ye reigne of our Late Sovrgne Lord King Wm. the third of England &ca anoq Dñi 1699 his Excellÿ Nattll. Blackiston Esqr being then Govrnr &ca It is then and there amonst other things Enacted yt noe prson whatsoevr Shall trade, barter, Comerce, or anÿwaÿs Deal wth anÿ Servs whether hired or Indented or Slave belonging or appertaineing to anÿ Inhabitants wthin this Province wthout Leave or lÿcence first had & obtained from Such Servts master mistress Dame or overseer for his Soe Doeing; under ye penaltÿ of two thousand pounds of tobacco, the one halfe to his then majestie for Support of ye Govrmt; ye other halfe to ye master mistres, or true owner of Such goods Soe purloÿgned bartered or Convoÿed awaÿ, when proved bÿ Suffct. wittnesse or Confession of ye partÿ to be recovred in anÿ Court Court of this Province bÿ accõn of Debt, bill, plaint or Information wherein act of assemblÿ now in force, amongst other things more fullÿ is Contained; never= theless The afsd John Nichoalson The act of assamblÿ afsd in noe wise weighing or Considering, Nore ye puñishmts in ye Same Contained in noe wise fearing Did upon the thirty first Daÿ of agut anoq Doñi 1704 att Kent Countÿ afsd wthin the Jurisdiction of this Court, barter and Deal wth |Buÿ and receive from ) a Certaine negroe Slave be= longing to the Sd John Sallter Comõnlÿ Called and Knowne bÿ ye name of Black George for one bottle of rume vallue three Shills Sterg and one busshell of Salt |
