      and Port of Annapolis ye 27th Daÿ of June & Ended Julÿ ye 22d in ye 11th year of ye reigne of our Late —

      being then Govrnr &ca It is then and there amonst other things Enacted yt noe prson whatsoevr
      Shall trade, barter, Comerce, or anÿwaÿs Deal wth anÿ Servs whether hired or Indented or Slave
      belonging or appertaineing to anÿ Inhabitants wthin this Province wthout Leave or lÿcence
      first had & obtained from Such Servts master mistress Dame or overseer for his Soe Doeing;
      under ye penaltÿ of two thousand pounds of tobacco, the one halfe to his then majestie for—
      Support of ye Govrmt; ye other halfe to ye master mistres, or true owner of Such goods Soe
      purloÿgned bartered or Convoÿed awaÿ, when proved bÿ Suffct. wittnesse or Confession of ye
      partÿ to be recovred in anÿ Court Court of this Province bÿ accõn of Debt, bill, plaint or
      Information whereino noe [illegible] protection or wager of Law to be allowed; as in ye afsd
      act of assemblÿ now in force, amongst other things more fullÿ is Contained; never=
      theless The afsd John Nichoalson The act of assamblÿ afsd in noe wise weighing or
