        Considered here this Daÿ to witt this 25^th Daÿ of Ja^rÿ anno Dni 1703 ~~the~~
        the Said John Coward recover ag^t y^e S^d Richard Jones Jun^re
        Sum^e of five hundred and four pounds of tob^o y^e residue of y^e Debt
        afs^d as y^e Sum^e of two hundred Sixtÿ & five pounds of tob^o Cost of Suit
        and the Def^t in mercÿ &c^a

	Deft Imp^rled as afs^d untill next Court & now here
	this Daÿ to witt y^e 25^th Daÿ of Ja^rÿ 1703 comes as well y^e

        S^d Def^t as y^e S^d pltfs p^r their att^rÿs afs^d in y^e fores^d accon, & y^e pltfs
        Declares    That —
   Kent Ss Richard Joanes alius Dicts Richard Jones Jun^r. of Tallbott Countÿ plan:
      : ter was Somon’d to answer unto John Coward & Comp^y of London mer:
      : chants of a plea y^t he rend^r them y^e Sum^e of Eighteen hundred Sixtÿ
        and Eight pounds of good Sound merchantable Tobacco in Cask Clear
        of trash which to them he oweth & from he unjustlÿ Detaines
        as bÿ a Declaⁿ filed in this Court in Due form y^e Same more |att large)
        maÿ appear —
        and the S^d Def^t comes & Says y^t he can not gainsaÿ but y^t he was Just:
      =lÿ Indebted unto y^e S^d pltfs in y^e Sum^e afs^d but y^t Since he y^e Sd [Def^t]
        passed y^e obligation (in the pltfs’s Declaⁿ mention’d) he y^e S^d Def^t
        has paid & Satisfied unto y^e S^d pltfs, (of y^e Debt Specified in S^d obligacon)
        y^e Sum^e of one thousand three hundred & Sixtÿ pounds of tobacco ~~par~~
        as part of y^e Debt afs^d, fo^r w^th paÿm^t he produceth to this Court his
        receipts for y^e Same, & praÿs Discount according to act of assemblÿ
        which is Granted him, and as to y^e residue of y^e Debt afs^d being
        five hundred & Eight the S^d Def^t Saÿeth y^t he is willing y^t
        Judg^t be Intred ag^t him for the Same
              Which being bÿ the Court heard and fullÿ understood It is
        bÿ the Justices here Considered this 25^th Daÿ of Ja^rÿ anno Dñi
