      and unjustlÿ Detaine to y^e Damãge of the S^d Robert 2398^ls of tob^o and there
      upon he brings this Suit       Macklin p^r q^r: Pledges &c^a John Doe Richard Roe
      and now here this Daÿ to witt the 25^th Daÿ of Ja^rÿ anno Dñi 1703 the
      Said Def^t comes & Saÿs y^t he Cannot Gainesaÿ y^e pltf in his accõn afs^d
      Soe as afs^d brought nor but y^t he is & Stands Justlÿ Indebted unto y^e
      Said pltf, in Sum^e afs^d & is therefore willing y^t Judg^t be Intred ag^t
      him for y^e Same
          It is therefore Considered here bÿ the Court this Daÿ to witt y^e 25^th
      Daÿ of Ja^rÿ 1703 that y^e S^d Pltf recover ag^t y^e S^d Def^t as well y^e Sum^e
      of one thousand one hundred ninetÿ & nine pounds of tob^o y^e Debt afs^d
      as y^e Sum^e of two hundred Eightÿ & Seaven pounds of tob^o Cost of ~
      Suit and the Def^t in mercÿ &c^a

	\| Granted a writt to be return’d Immediate a^t Richard Jones
	Jun^r: & y^e S^d p^rcept Directed to y^e Sher^f who makes ret^r
	hereof Imediatelÿ Cepi p^r John Hawkin Sher^f

      Whereupon y^e S^d Defend^t appeared and being held to baile, Michael Earle
      here in Court undertakes to be baile for y^e S^d Jones according to act of
      assemblÿ, and Thereupon y^e S^d Def^t bÿ S^d Earle his att^rÿ praÿed leave
      to Imp^rle thereunto untill next Court, which was Granted him y^e Same
      was Given y^e pltf allsoe, att w^ch S^d next Court to witt this 25^th Daÿ
      of Ja^rÿ 1703 comes as well y^e S^d Def^t bÿ S^d Att^rÿ as y^e S^d pltf bÿ his
      att^rÿ afs^d & this Cause Standing for Trÿall, the pltf’s Declaⁿ was
      read as falloweth
      Kent Ss/ Richard Jones als Dicts Ric’d Jones Jun^r: of Tallbott Countÿ plantr
                     was Somõn’d to answer unto John Coaward of London Merchant of a plea
                     y^t he rend^r him y^e Sum^e of two thousand pounds of good bright & Clear tob^o
                     from all trash & Ground leaves w^ch to him he oweth & from him
                     he unjustlÿ Detaines ÿ |as maÿ appear more att large) bÿ —
                  a Declaⁿ filed in this Court in Due form &c^a
           and thereupon the S^d Richard comes in to open Court & Saÿeth y^t he
           can not Gainsaÿ but y^t he unjustlÿ Indebted to y^e S^d pltf in the Sum^e
           afs^d but Since he passed y^e S^d obligation, y^t he paid & Satisfied unto
           the S^d pltf y^e Sum^e of one thousand four hundred nine & Six pounds of
           tob^o part of y^e Debt afs^d for w^ch paÿm^t he y^e S^d Def^t produceth receipts
           & paÿeth Discount according to act of assemblÿ
