           And the S^d Sher^f made retⁿ of this writt Endorsed Cepi Corpus
      p^r me John Hawkins Sher^f. att w^ch S^d June Court the S^d Def^t being
      comes and appears, & bÿ Richard Macklin his Att^rÿ, praÿs leave to leave
      to Impa^rle thereunto untill next Court, w^ch was Given him y^e Same Daÿ
      was Given the pltf allsoe
           Att w^ch S^d next Court to witt on the 24^th Daÿ of aug^t This accõn
      was Continued, and it was Continued from Court to Court untill this p^r=
      Sent Court, att w^ch p^rsent Court to witt this 23^th Daÿ of November anno 1703
      comes ths S^d Def^t bÿ his att^rÿ afs^d as allsoe y^e S^d pltf bÿ Michael Earle
      his att^rÿ who Declares as falloweth viz^t

in Marÿland	\| John Nicholson of S^d Countÿ Stands attached to Answer
	unto John Johnson of y^e Same Countÿ of a plea of trespass upon
	the Case/

      And whereupon the S^d John Joⁿson bÿ Michael his Att^rÿ Complaineth & Saÿeth
      y^t whereas y^e S^d John Nicholson on y^e 23^d Daÿ of March Anno Dni 1702 in Kent
      Countÿ w^thin the Jurisdiction of this Court before Elias King Gentⁿ & his
      associates Justices of our Ladÿ the Queen in Court Setting to hear & Deter:
     :mine Div^rs fellonÿes & transgressions in S^d Countÿ Done or p^rpetrated bÿ
      the oathes of William Comegÿs, W^m: Blaÿ, Tho: Wÿott, Tho: fford, Sam^ll;
      Price, Renatus Smith, George Powell, Sam^ll Toveÿ, Henery Hÿnson
      Robert fforeman Robert Ingram, John Hughes, Benjamⁿ Ricors ÿ
      Robert Peork, Arthur Miller & Richard Mason, being the Grand Jurÿ
      for the bodÿ of Kent Countÿ Duelÿ Impanneled & Sworn & upon ~
      Evidence bÿ the S^d John Nichollson a^t the S^d John Johnson then
      and there Given Did p^rcure the S^d Joⁿ Joⁿson wrongfullÿ to be Indicted
      for y^t he y^e S^d Joⁿ Nicholson alledged then & there y^t he y^e S^d John Joⁿson
      had Concealed a Certaine Taxable named Steaphen Mason belonging to
      the family of him the S^d Joⁿson & wo’ld not Give in the name of y^e
      afs^d Taxable unto y^e S^d John Johnson then Dwell &c^a Bÿ which Indicte
    :m^t: afs^d before y^e Justices of our Ladÿ the Queen afs^d & att y^e Daÿ &
      Court afs^d for y^e Delivering of y^e prison^rs: &c^a the afs^d John Johnson
      was then & there brought to y^e barre in his p^rper person under y^e Custo=
   = dÿ of John Hawkins Gentⁿ heigh Sher^f of y^e afs^d Countÿ, & bÿ y^e Justices
      afs^d being asked, how he wo’ld |of y^e transgression afs^d upon him in
      manner & afs^d Imposed ) aquit himselfe, The S^d John Johnson then & there
      S^d that he |in nothing ) was thereof Guiltÿ, & putt himselfe upon the
      Countrÿ, And Richard Macklin Gentⁿ Clk of the Indictem^ts for S^d
      Countÿ fallowed &c^a
