   to answer thereunto and this he is readÿ to verÿfie wherefore for wan^t
   of a Sufficient Declaⁿ in that behalfe & a Sufficient matter therein to be
   Contained this Def^t praÿs Judg^t and his Damages to be adjudged &

   Comegÿs John Nichollson Renatus Smith who being Duelÿ Ellected
   and Sworn to Saÿ the truth in the p^rmisses, Doe Saÿ upon our oathes

   this Daÿ to witt this 23^th Daÿ of november anno Dni 1703 That the

   hundred & fourtÿ pounds of tob^o the residue of the Debt
   afs^d as y^e Sum^e of four hundred twentÿ & three pds of tobacco his
   Cost of Suit Laid out and Expended according to y^e form of the Statute
