      to Cause the Said plaint^f to Answer thereunto and that he to
      that plea in Manner and form afd pleaded hath no necessity
      Nor by the Law of the Land is bound to Make Answer thereunto
      And this he is ready to averr and thereupon prays Judg^t: &c^a —
Imp^rs. the Defend^t. Sayth y^t. A Certaine Edward Stevenson
      and David Wilson Book keeper or agent for y^e. Said Plf
      And Edw^d. Stevenson accounted with the Said plaint^f at which
      Day of accounting the Said Rennatus Smith past his obligation
      to the said plaint^f. or Edw^d. Stevenson &c^a. who Seemed to be
      Joyntly Concerned &c^a. being the ball^e. of All Accounts between
      the Said Plaint^f Stevenson and Def^t.- Which is too Grãll ==
      A way of pleading and to which the def^t. Cannot Answer &c^a
                And the S^d. Def^t. Sayth y^t. the plea afd and the Matter
      therein doth hold Sufficient &c^a: and prays Judg^t. &c^a:
           And Now here this day to wit this twenty Second day of ——
      Sept^r. Anno Dmⁱ. 1702    The pleadings and Alleagations
      on both Sides being    by the Court heard weighed and —
      Maturely deliberated it Is Considered by y^e. S^d Co^rt y^t:
      the Said Edward Fry recover ag^t. the S^d. Rennatus Smith
      As well the Sume of three hundred and ninety pounds of
      tobacco y^e. Debt afd As the Sume of three hundred and
      thirteen ~    ~ &c^a. ~ pounds of tobaco Cost of Suit and y^e.
      Def^t. in Mercy &c^a: ====

Rob^t. Hawkshaw	\| A plea of Trespass upon the case for y^e. Sume

        of four hundred and eight pounds of tobaco Due unto him
                                                               acc^o:
        the Said Samuel upon the ball^e. of And for Ord^ry’s Accomodations
        As p^r the declⁿ and account filed in this Court p^r Rich^d Macklin
        Att^ry of the plaint^f May at large appeare.
                And the Said Robert in his p^rper p^rson Comes into Sayth
        y^t. he Cannot gainsay the plaint^f his accon So as afd ag^t. him
        brought nor but y^t. he is and Stand Justly Indebted unto the plf
        in the Sume afd and is therefore willing y^t. Judg^t. be enter’d &c^a:
