Kent County Court, Proceedings, 1701-1705

      for the Sume of eight hundred pounds of tobacco being due
      unto the Said Plaint^f by a certaine note drawn by a certaine
      Nicholas Clouds upon    the Said W^m. Brereton In his life time
      And by the Said W^m. Accepted payable to the s^d. plaint^f for y^e:
      Sume afd As p^r the Declⁿ and Said Note filed in this Court
      by Rich^d. Macklin Att^ry of y^e. Said Plaint^f May at large appear
           And the S^d John in his proper p^rson Comes and defends y^e.
      force and Injury when &c^a: and prays leave to Imp^rle hereunto —
      untill next Court And he hath it the Same day is given the
      plaint^f. also. At which Said next Court to wit this twenty Secõd
      day of September Anno Dmⁱ 1702 Comes the S^d. Plf by his
      Att^ry Afd and prays Judg^t. for y^e. debt afd and Cost of Suit –
      for as much as the S^d. Defend^t. hath not filed his plea —
      according to the rules of this Court which being by the —
      Justices here enquired off and found to be true it is by them
      Considered this twenty Second day of Sept^r. afd that the Said ===
      Charles Blake recover against the Said John Chamney adm^r:
      as afd As well the Sume of Eight hundred pounds of tob^o:
      the debt afd As the Sume of two hundred and forty five
      pounds of tobacco Cost of Suit and y^e. Def^t. in Mercy &c^a:

Edw^d. Fry	\| Nathaniel Cleave of Kent County Stands Attached to Answer
a^t	\| unto Edward Fry of A plea of Trespass upon the case -
Nath^ll. Cleave	\| for the Sume of four hundred fifty Six pounds of tob^o:

      Due by Account unto the S^d. Edward for Ord^ry accomodations ==
      As p^r the Declⁿ and Account filed in this Court by Rich^d. Macklin
      Att^ry of the plaint^f May at large appeare –
             And the S^d Nathaniel by Mi. Earle his Att^ry Comes and defends
      the force and Injury when &c^a. And prays leave to imp^rle here:
      :unto untill next Court And he hath it the Same day is given the
      plaint^f also-
             Att Which Said next Court to wit this twenty Second day of
      Sept^r. Anno Dmⁱ. 1702 Comes the S^d. plaint^f by his Att^ry afd &
      offers himself ag^t. the S^d- Def^t. in the plea afd. but the S^d
      Defend^t. (Altho.’ Solemnly Called) Cometh not by himself or his
      Att^ry but Makes default~. whereupon y^e. plf prays Judg^t. &c^a:
