Chapter 52
AN ACT to amend Section 27-18, title "Definition" of
Subtitle "Discrimination in Employment" of Article I, title
"Commission on Human Relations" of Chapter 27, title "Human
Relations and Civil Liberties" to provide for a definition
of "Religious Creed", to amend Section 27-19, title "Unlawful
Employment Practice" of Subtitle "Discrimination in
Employment" of Article I, title "Commission on Human
Relations" of Chapter 27, title "Human Relations and Civil
Liberties", to require employers to make only reasonable
accommodation to an employee's religious belief and to amend
subsection 33-9(a) title "Policy" of Section 33-9, title
"Equal Employment Opportunity and Affirmative Action" of
Article II, title "Merit System" of Chapter 33, title
"Personnel" to require administrative regulations which
provide that an employee whose personal religious beliefs
require the abstention from work during certain periods of
time be obligated to work an equal period of time to that
taken off for religious reasons.

Chapter 53
AN EMERGENCY ACT to repeal and reenact with amendments
Section 26-19, title "Emergency Actions" of Chapter 26,
title "Housing Standards" of the Montgomery County Code,
1972, as amended, to grant the Director of the Department of
Environmental Protection authority to contract for emergency
actions to correct housing code violations after certain
determinations are made and after the owner has failed to
obey an order to correct the violation; and to hold the
owner liable to the County for the costs incurred as a
result of the corrective actions taken.
Effective Date March 7, 1979.

Chapter 54
AN EMERGENCY ACT to repeal and reenact with amendments,
Subsection 56-30(j), title "Repurchase option" of Section
56-30, title "Powers and authority of county" of Article VI,
title "Housing Opportunity Act" of the Montgomery County
Code, 1972, as amended, to provide that the County Executive
may require the purchaser of a home using any "Opportunity
Housing Program" to grant the County an irrevocable option
to repurchase said housing unit for a period of up to five
