RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL
OF SMITHSBURG TO ENLARGE
THE CORPORATE BOUNDARY OF THE TOWN
RESOLUTION of the Mayor and Council of the Town of
Smithsburg, adopted pursuant to the authority of Article
11-E of the Constitution of Maryland and Section 19 of
Article 23A of the Annotated Code of Maryland, 1966 Edition,
title "Corporations - Municipal", subtitle "Home Rule",
subheading "Annexation", as said section was amended by
Chapter 314 of the Laws of Maryland of 1961, to enlarge the
corporate boundaries of the Mayor and Council of Smithsburg
as previously defined by the Mayor and Council as it appears
in the public records of the Commissioner of the Land Office
and Director of the Department of Legislative Reference and
the Clerk of the Circuit Court for Washington County, by
adding or annexing to said corporate boundaries the
following are adjoining the present corporate boundary,
to-wit:
BEGINNING at an iron pin in West Water Street, South of
the Smithsburg Trinity Lutheran Church Cemetery, said point
being at the end of the North 49° 47' East 99 feet line of
the metes and bounds description of the corporate limits of
said Town and running thence reversing said line and
continuing in the center of said street South 49° 47' West
203.4 feet, thence South 37° 00' East 17.5 feet to the South
marginal line of said street, thence continuing South 37°
00' East 106.1 feet to the Northwest margin of the
right-of-way of the Western Maryland Railroad Company, then
binding on the said right-of-way by a curve to the right the
chord being North 67° 21' East 192.24 feet to a stake at the
East margin of Old Mill Road and in the original boundary of
said Town, thence with said boundary North 27° 43' West
173.33 feet to the place of beginning;
Containing .5637 acres of land, more or less.
WHEREAS, the owners of all of said land to be annexed,
have consented to and requested the said parcel referred to
herein to be annexed or added to the Corporate Boundaries of
the Town of Smithsburg, and
[Section 31-2 (Section 583) of the Code of Public Local
Laws of Washington County, complied with.
