MUNICIPAL CHARTERS

A RESOLUTION concerning

Charter of the Town of Mount Airy

FOR the purpose of generally amending and revising the
Charter of the Town of Mount Airy; to redefine the powers of
the Town of Mount Airy, its organization; the duties,
compensation; powers and authority of its various officials,
commissions and departments; the repeal of certain
provisions which are obsolete or inconsistent with state
law; the enactment of new sections; and relating generally
to the governmental affairs of said Town.

Preamble

WHEREAS, the Charter of the Town of Mount Airy was last
comprehensively studied and enacted by Chapter 538 of the
Acts of 1951, and

WHEREAS, in the ensuing years there has been an
increase in both the population and area of said Town, and

WHEREAS, certain provisions of said Charter now are
obsolete or inconsistent with state law, and

WHEREAS, the Council of Mount Airy believes it is in
the best interest of the inhabitants of said Town that the
Charter be generally amended and revised.

NOW, THEREFORE, pursuant to the authority contained in
Article XI-E of the Maryland Constitution and Section 13 of
Article 23A of the Maryland Code:

[Section 201 through 309 of the Code of Public Local
Laws of Carroll County, repealed and reenacted, with
amendments.

RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL

FOR AMENDMENT OF THE CHARTER

OF THE CITY OF MT. RAINIER, MARYLAND

NO. 79-1

RESOLVED, that pursuant to the terms of ARTICLE 23A of
the Annotated Code of Maryland the following amendments to
the Charter of the City of Mt. Rainier, be hereby adopted:

[Sections 53-16, 53-18, and 53-19 of the Code of Public
Local Laws of Prince George's County, repealed and
reenacted, with amendments.
