House Bill No. 1227

AN ACT concerning

Creation of a State Debt - Peale Museum

FOR the purpose of authorizing the creation of a State Debt
in the amount of up to $300,000, the proceeds to be
used to assist in the renovation and restoration of the
Peale Museum in Baltimore City, subject to the
condition that Baltimore City provide a certain
matching fund be provided for the same purpose by a
certain date; and providing generally for the issue and
sale of bonds evidencing the loan.

Dear Mr. Speaker:

In accordance with Article II, Section 17 of the
Maryland Constitution, I have today vetoed House Bill 1227.

This bill authorizes a State debt to be used to assist
in the renovation and restoration of the Peale Museum in
Baltimore City.

Senate Bill 379, which was enacted by the General
Assembly and signed by me on May 27, 1980 accomplishes the
same purpose.

Therefore it is unnecessary for me to sign House Bill
1227.
