JOINT RESOLUTIONS

(i) Number of persons served or units
produced;

(ii) Cost per person or cost per unit; and

(iii) Comparison of effort, costs, and
results with similar programs in other jurisdictions and in
the private sector. The Department of Budget and Fiscal
Planning may supervise the preparation of these statistical
summaries and waive or augment the elements of data to be
included, as it deems best, to minimize the cost and the
amount of paperwork, and to maximize the usefulness, of the
submissions; and be it further

RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution be sent to the
Honorable Harry Hughes, Governor of the State of Maryland;
and the Honorable Thomas W. Schmidt, Secretary of Budget and
Fiscal Planning, State Treasury Building, Fourth Floor, 5
Calvert Street, Annapolis, Maryland 21404.

(Senate Joint Resolution No. 60)

A Senate Joint Resolution concerning

Governor's Task Force - Arthritis Study

FOR the purpose of requesting that the Governor appoint a
task force to study arthritis and the complex issues
which it envelopes; providing a certain time period for
the task force to submit its study; and providing for
certain issues and questions which the task force shall
address in its study.

WHEREAS, Approximately 15 percent of Maryland's
population or, one of every three families is affected by
arthritis; and

WHEREAS, According to data from the National Health
Survey, physical disability due to "arthritis and
rheumatism" ranks second only to heart conditions; and

WHEREAS, In Maryland, far too many of its citizenry
with arthritis receive inadequate care or no care at all;
and

WHEREAS, There is a needless lack of knowledge
concerning arthritis which prevents individuals from seeking
and demanding the best possible care; and
