LAWS OF MARYLAND

Ch. 702

(a)  There shall be a Board of Sanitarian Registration
to examine and register qualified sanitarians. The Board
shall be part of the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene
and file reports of its activities with the Secretary of
Health and Mental Hygiene as [he] THE SECRETARY prescribes.

(b)  The Board shall consist of [five (5)] SIX members
appointed by the Governor, upon the recommendation of the
Secretary of Health and Mental Hygiene, and with the advice
and consent of the Senate. [All Board] FIVE members shall
qualify for registration as a registered sanitarian under
this subtitle[; provided that on or after June 30, 1970,
each Board member shall be a registered sanitarian, as
provided in this subtitle]. ONE MEMBER SHALL BE A CONSUMER
WHO:

(1)  IS QUALIFIED TO REPRESENT THE INTERESTS OF
CONSUMERS A MEMBER OF THE GENERAL PUBLIC;

(2)  HAS NEVER BEEN A REGISTERED SANITARIAN OR
REGISTERED SANITARIAN-IN-TRAINING, NOR HAS A HOUSEHOLD
MEMBER WHO IS A REGISTERED SANITARIAN OR REGISTERED
SANITARIAN-IN-TRAINING;

(3)  HAS NEVER PARTICIPATED IN A RELATED
COMMERCIAL OR PROFESSIONAL FIELD, NOR HAS A HOUSEHOLD MEMBER
WHO PARTICIPATES IN A RELATED COMMERCIAL OR PROFESSIONAL
FIELD;

(4)  HAS NOT WITHIN 2 YEARS PRIOR TO APPOINTMENT
NOR DURING THE TERM OF APPOINTMENT HAD A FINANCIAL INTEREST
IN AN INDIVIDUAL, ASSOCIATION, UNINCORPORATED ASSOCIATION,
CORPORATION, OR ANY OTHER ENTITY WHICH IS REGULATED BY THE
BOARD; AND

(5)  MAY NOT PARTICIPATE IN ACTIVITIES RELATING
TO EXAMINATIONS UNLESS APPROVED BY THE BOARD.

As used in this subtitle, unless a contrary mekJs
clearly intended from the context in which the term appears,
the following terms have the respective meanings hereinafter
set forth or indicated:

(5)  "FINANCIAL INTEREST" MEANS:

(I)  AN ASSET WITH A FAIR MARKET VALUE OF
$1,000 OR MORE IN A CALENDAR YEAR; OR

(II)  A SOURCE OF INCOME OF $500 OR MORE IN
A CALENDAR YEAR.

(6)  "HOUSEHOLD MEMBER" MEANS:

(I) A PERSON'S SPOUSE, SON, DAUGHTER,
WARD, FINANCIALLY DEPENDENT PARENT, OR OTHER RELATIVE WHO
SHARES THE PERSON'S LEGAL RESIDENCE; OR
