representatives of the State Department of Health AND MENTAL
HYGIENE and the Department of [Water Resources] NATURAL
RESOURCES shall serve on the Board at the pleasure of the
respective appointing authorities. Members of the Board
shall be eligible for reappointment. Vacancies on the Board
shall be filled for the remainder of the unexpired term by
the respective appointing authorities. The Board at its
first meeting each year shall select its chairman. The
representative of the State Department of Health AND MENTAL
HYGIENE shall be designated as secretary to the Board.
Members shall be reimbursed for expenses incurred while
actually engaged in the performance of their duties in
accordance with the standard travel regulations.
(f) The Board of Certification is hereby authorized
to:
[1.] (1) Recommend criteria for the
classification of waterworks and waste-water works to the
State Health Commissioner SECRETARY and for the
classification of industrial waste-water works to the
[Director] SECRETARY of the Department of [Water Resources]
NATURAL RESOURCES.
[2.] (2) Recommend rules and regulations for
adoption by the [State Board of Health and Mental Hygiene]
SECRETARY and Water Resources [Commission] ADMINISTRATION
THE SECRETARY OF THE DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES for the
administration of this section.
[3.] (3) Prepare examinations - for THE VARIOUS
CLASSES OF superintendent certification, [such] examination
to be scheduled at least semiannually.
(4) PREPARE EXAMINATIONS FOR THE VARIOUS CLASSES
OF OPERATOR AND INDUSTRIAL OPERATOR CERTIFICATION,
EXAMINATIONS ARE TO BE SCHEDULED AT LEAST SEMIANNUALLY.
(5) REQUIRE AS A CONDITION OF ACCEPTING AN
APPLICATION FOR CERTIFICATION THE COMPLETION OF EITHER
EDUCATIONAL OR JOB TRAINING OR BOTH.
[4.] (6) Issue certificates after acceptable
application and examination results are available.
[5.] (7) Issue interim or temporary certificates
pending qualification for permanent certification.
[6.] (8) Issue limited certificates for those
who qualify under paragraph (h) of this section.
[7.] (9) Revoke or suspend a certificate for
cause after hearing by the Board and review by the [State
Board of Health and Mental Hygiene] SECRETARY in the case of
a waterworks superintendent OR OPERATOR or a waste-water
works superintendent OR OPERATOR, or by the Department of
[Water] NATURAL Resources in the case of an industrial
waste-water works superintendent OR INDUSTRIAL OPERATOR.
