SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That section(s) of the Annotated Code of Maryland

(as enacted by Chapter ____ (H.B. 1) of the Acts of the

General Assembly of 1980) be repealed, amended, or enacted
to read as follows:

Article 41 - Governor - Executive and Administrative

Departments

15B-2.

(c) If an emergency exists as to a banking institution
OR CREDIT UNION, the Governor:

(1) May proclaim a day on which the banking
institution OR CREDIT UNION may remain closed; and

(2) Shall limit the proclamation to the

principal [banking] office and branch offices of the banking
institution OR CREDIT UNION that the emergency affects.

THE PROVISIONS OF TITLE 5, SUBTITLE 7 OF THIS ARTICLE
RELATING TO BANK HOLIDAYS ARE MADE APPLICABLE TO CREDIT
UNIONS TO THE SAME EXTENT AS IF THE PROVISIONS WERE FULLY
SET FORTH IN THIS SUBTITLE. A CREDIT UNION SHALL POST ITS
HOURS OF OPERATION PROMINENTLY IN ITS OFFICE. EACH CREDIT
UNION SHALL BE OPEN FOR BUSINESS DURING ITS POSTED HOURS,
EXCEPT THAT A CREDIT UNION MAY CLOSE:

(1)  ON ANY STATE HOLIDAY;

(2)  AT ANY OTHER TIME IF:

(I)  NOTICE OF THE CLOSING IS POSTED
PROMINENTLY IN ITS OFFICE 3 BUSINESS DAYS IN ADVANCE; OR

(II)  SPECIFICALLY AUTHORIZED TO CLOSE BY
THE BANK COMMISSIONER.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act
shall take effect July 1, 1980.
