Section 5-501 through 5-507, inclusive

Annotated Code of Maryland

(1974 Volume and 1979 Supplement)

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That section(s) of the Annotated Code of Maryland
be repealed, amended, or enacted to read as follows:

Article - Agriculture

[5-501.

The Secretary shall keep records of all work performed
in carrying out the provisions of this subtitle, and shall,
report it as is required for its other activities.]

[5-502.

The Secretary shall inspect apiaries, conduct
investigations, and disseminate information to promote the
bee-keeping industry in the State.]

[5-503.

(a)  Upon discovery of foul brood, black brood, or
other infectious or contagious diseases in any apiary or
colony, the Secretary shall send to the owner of the
diseased bees a written order requiring the bees to be held
in quarantine until released by a written permit from the
Secretary.

(b)  Upon the discovery of foul brood, black brood, or
other infectious or contagious disease in any apiary or
colony, the Secretary shall instruct the owner or caretaker
concerning the treatment of the diseased colonies. If, upon
subsequent inspection, the disease still is found to exist
in the apiary or colony, the Secretary may destroy or order
the destruction of the diseased colony in a manner that
prevents the spread of the disease.]

[5-504.

To enforce the provisions of this subtitle, the
Secretary may enter all places where bees, bee products,
supplies, or appliances used in apiaries are kept.]

[5-505.

(a) If any beekeeper knows that bees he owns are
infected with foul brood, black brood, or any other
infectious or contagious disease harmful to honey bees in
