the egg, larval, pupal, or adult state, he immediately shall
notify the Secretary.

(b)  A person may not maintain a colony of bees
infected with foul brood, black brood, or any other
infectious or contagious disease harmful to honey bees in
the egg, larval, pupal, or adult state, except as provided
by § 5-503 (a).

(c)  No person who knows that a contagious or
infectious disease exists among his bees, may sell, barter,
donate, or otherwise dispose of any of them, their products,
or any hive, super, frame, section, or other appliance used
about the diseased bees, unless disinfected or treated in a
manner satisfactory to the Secretary.]

(a)  No colony of bees may be shipped or transported
into the State for delivery to any consignee residing in the
State, unless the colony is accompanied by a written
certificate from a person charged with inspecting apiaries,
stating that he has inspected the colony, and that it is
free from infectious or contagious diseases.

(b)  If a colony of bees is shipped or transported into
the State from any State or foreign country without a
written certificate, the consignee, upon receipt of the
colony, immediately shall notify the Secretary of its
receipt. The Secretary immediately shall inspect the colony.

(c)  This section does not prohibit transportation or
delivery of queen bees not accompanied by brood or comb.]

No transportation company or common carrier may accept
for transportation into the State or deliver any colony of
bees from a state or foreign country, unless the colony is
accompanied by a certificate of inspection. No
transportation company or common carrier is liable for
damages to the consignee or consignor for refusing to
receive a colony not accompanied by a certificate.]
