CHAPTER 258

(Senate Bill 386)

AN ACT concerning

Dorchester County - County Commissioner Elections

FOR the purpose of creating a certain number of County
Commissioner Election Districts in Dorchester County;
providing for the election of County Commissioners by
a general vote of the County; providing for primary
elections; establishing residency requirements; and
clarifying language.

BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,

The Public Local Laws of Dorchester County
Section 6-1

Article 10 - Public Local Laws of Maryland
(1974 Edition and 1974 Supplement, as amended)

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That section(s) of the Code of Public Local Laws
of Maryland be repealed, amended, or enacted to read as
follows:

Article 10 - Dorchester County

6-1.

(A)  There shall be five County Commissioners in
Dorchester County, who [shall] constitute the Board of
County Commissioners of [said] THE county.

(B)  DORCHESTER COUNTY SHALL BE DIVIDED INTO THREE
COUNTY COMMISSIONER DISTRICTS, AS FOLLOWS:

(1)  THE NORTH COUNTY COMMISSIONER DISTRICT IS
COMPOSED OF THE FORK, EAST NEW MARKET, WILLIAMSBURG, AND
HURLOCK ELECTION DISTRICTS;

(2)  THE CENTRAL COUNTY COMMISSIONER DISTRICT IS
COMPOSED OF THE CAMBRIDGE, NECK, AND LINKWOOD ELECTION
DISTRICTS;

(3)  THE SOUTH COUNTY COMMISSIONER DISTRICT IS
COMPOSED OF THE VIENNA, TAYLOR'S ISLAND, LAKES, HOOPERS
ISLAND, CHURCH CREEK, STRAITS, DRAWBRIDGE, BUCKTOWN,
MADISON, SALEM, AND ELLIOTT ELECTION DISTRICTS.

(C)  BY A GENERAL VOTE OF THE COUNTY, ONE COUNTY
COMMISSIONER SHALL BE ELECTED FROM AMONG THE VOTERS WHO
RESIDE IN THE NORTH COUNTY COMMISSIONER DISTRICT, THREE
SHALL BE ELECTED FROM AMONG THE VOTERS WHO RESIDE IN THE
