Section 200A to be under the new subtitle "Regulation
of Domestic Animals"
Annotated Code of Maryland
(1972 Replacement Volume and 1978 Supplement)
SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the subtitle "Police Dogs - Licensing of", of
Article 56 - Licenses, of the Annotated Code of Maryland be
repealed.
SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That Section(s)
200A of Article 56 - Licenses, of the Annotated Code of
Maryland be renumbered to be Section(s) 200B under the new
subtitle "Police Dogs - Licensing of".
SECTION 3. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That section(s)
of the Annotated Code of Maryland be repealed, amended, or
enacted to read as follows:
Article 56 - Licenses
REGULATION OF DOMESTIC ANIMALS
200A.
IN ADDITION TO AND NOT IN SUBSTITUTION FOR ANY POWERS
GRANTED UNDER THIS ARTICLE, THE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF
CARROLL COUNTY, BY ORDINANCE, MAY PROVIDE FOR A
COMPREHENSIVE SYSTEM FOR THE REGULATION OF DOMESTIC ANIMALS,
INCLUDING DOGS, WITHIN THE COUNTY, INCLUDING LICENSING AND
CONTROL. THESE REGULATIONS MAY INCLUDE PROVISIONS FOR THE
IMPOUNDMENT AND DISPOSAL OF UNLICENSED OR DANGEROUS DOGS;
AND MAY INCLUDE PROVISIONS FOR THE REGULATION OF PERSONS WHO
OWN OR KEEP DOGS WHICH DISTURB THE PEACE AND QUIET OF A
NEIGHBORHOOD, OR WHICH ARE VICIOUS; AND MAY INCLUDE
REASONABLE PENALTIES FOR VIOLATIONS OF ANY OF THE PROVISIONS
OF THE REGULATIONS, NOT TO EXCEED IMPRISONMENT IN THE COUNTY
JAIL FOR 30 DAYS OR A FINE OF $500, OR BOTH.
SECTION 4. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act
shall take effect July 1, 1979.
