AN ACT concerning

Carroll County - Alcoholic Beverages
(Employment of Minors)

FOR the purpose of prohibiting any person under a certain
age from selling, delivering, or dealing with alcoholic
beverages in Carroll County except in the capacity of a
waiter or waitress in any establishment operating under
a certain class license.

BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,

Article 2B - Alcoholic Beverages

Section 117(a)

Annotated Code of Maryland

(1976 Replacement Volume and 1978 Supplement)

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That section(s) of the Annotated Code of Maryland
be repealed, amended, or enacted to read as follows:

Article 2B - Alcoholic Beverages

117.

(a) In Carroll County no person under 21 years of age
may be employed to sell, deliver or otherwise deal with
alcoholic beverages by the holder of any [retail alcoholic
beverage license in that county. This section does not
prohibit the employment of anyone under the age of 21 by the
holder of such a license or in the establishments for any
purpose other than selling, delivering or otherwise dealing
with alcoholic beverages nor does it prohibit the employment
of persons 18 to 21 years of age to sell, deliver or
otherwise deal with beer and light wine.] CLASS A
(OFF-SALE), CLASS B (ON-SALE), OR CLASS C (ON-SALE) BEER,
WINE AND LIQUOR LICENSE EXCEPT A PERSON 18 YEARS OF AGE OR
OLDER MAY SERVE ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES WHILE ACTING IN THE
CAPACITY OF A WAITER OR WAITRESS IN ESTABLISHMENTS OPERATING
UNDER SUCH CLASS B (ON-SALE) OR CLASS C (ON-SALE) LICENSES,
AND NO PERSON UNDER THE AGE OF 18 SHALL BE EMPLOYED TO SELL,
DELIVER, OR OTHERWISE DEAL WITH ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES BY THE
HOLDER OF ANY ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGE LICENSE IN THIS COUNTY.
THIS SUBSECTION DOES NOT PROHIBIT THE EMPLOYMENT OF ANYONE
UNDER THE AGE OF 21 YEARS BY A HOLDER OF AN ALCOHOLIC
BEVERAGE LICENSE IN CARROLL COUNTY FOR ANY PURPOSE OTHER
THAN SELLING, DELIVERING, OR OTHERWISE DEALING WITH
ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act
shall take effect July 1, 1979.
