areas to be annexed, said notice describing the proposed
enlargement and circumstances thereof and specifying the
time, date and place at which a public hearing will be held
on the proposed annexation, said public hearing is to be
held on July 11, 1977 at 7:30 o'clock P.M. at the Town Hall,
South Main Street, Hampstead, Maryland, the said date being
more than fifteen (15) days after the fourth publication of
the notice in the aforementioned newspaper; and

WHEREAS, the Mayor and Council of the Town of Hampstead
deems the enlargement of the corporate boundaries to be
advisable and to be in the public interest.

[Section 6-6A of the Code of Public Local Laws of
Carroll County, added.

ANNEXATION RESOLUTION NO. 5

A RESOLUTION OF THE  MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF    THE TOWN    OF

HAMPSTEAD TO ENLARGE THE  CORPORATE BOUNDARIES  OF THE TOWN  OF

HAMPSTEAD AND THEREBY     AMEND THE CHARTER    OF THE TOWN  OF
HAMPSTEAD.

WHEREAS, a petition has been presented in writing to
the Town of Hampstead, Carroll County, State of Maryland,
signed by persons who are owners and residents of certain
real estate lying and being contiguous to the existing
corporate boundary lines of the Town of Hampstead to enlarge
the corporate boundaries of said Town by the annexation of
their real property,

WHEREAS, the Mayor and Council of the Town of
Hampstead, pursuant to Article 23A, subsection 19 (c) of the
Annotated Code of Maryland (1977 Cumulative Supplement) made
a verification of the signatures upon said petition and it
has ascertained that the persons signing said petition
represent at least twenty—five percent (25%) of the persons
who reside in the area to be annexed and who are registered
voters in county elections in the precinct or precincts in
which the territory to be annexed is located, and are the
owners of at least twenty—five percent (25%) of the assessed
valuation of the real property located in the area to be
annexed; and

WHEREAS, the Mayor and Council of the Town of
Hampstead, pursuant to the petition requesting annexation,
is introducing this resolution providing that the present
corporate boundaries of the Town of Hampstead be extended to
include the area described in the petition and in this
resolution.

WHEREAS, the Mayor and Council of the Town of
Hampstead, pursuant to Article 23A, subsection 19(d) of the

Annotated Code of Maryland (1977 Cumulative Supplement) will
