the Council Chambers, City Hall.

[Section 15—2 of the Code of Public Local Laws of
Washington County, repealed and reenacted, with amendments.

ANNEXATION RESOLUTION NO. 4

A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF THE TOWN  OF

HAMPSTEAD TO ENLARGE THE CORPORATE BOUNDARIES OF THE TOWN  OF

HAMPSTEAD AND THEREBY AMEND THE CHARTER OF THE TOWN    OF

HAMPSTEAD.

WHEREAS, at regular meetings of the Mayor and Council
of the Town of Hampstead, petitions were presented in
writing to the Town of Hampstead, Carroll County, State of
Maryland, signed by persons who are owners and residents of
certain real estate lying and being contiguous to the
existing corporate boundary lines of the Town of Hampstead
to enlarge the corporate boundaries of said Town by the
annexation of their real property East, Southeast and West
of said boundaries in the Eighth Election District of
Carroll County, Maryland; and

WHEREAS, the Mayor and Council of the Town of
Hampstead, pursuant to Article 23A, subsection 19{c) of the
Annotated Code of Maryland 11957), made a verification of
the signatures upon said petitions and it has ascertained
that the persons signing said petitions represent at least
twenty—five per cent (25%) of the persons who reside in the
area to be annexed and who are registered voters in county
elections in the precinct or precincts in which the
territory to be annexed is located, and are the owners of at
least twenty—five per cent (25%) of the assessed valuation
of the real property located in the areas to be annexed; and

WHEREAS, the Mayor and Council of the Town of
Hampstead, pursuant to the petitions requesting annexation,
is introducing this resolution providing that the present
corporate boundaries of the Town of Hampstead be extended to
include the areas described in the petitions and in this
resolution.

WHEREAS, the Mayor and Council of the Town of
Hampstead, pursuant to Article 23A, subsection 19(d) of the
Annotated Code of Maryland (1957), will cause a notice of
the proposed enlargement of the corporate boundaries of the
Town of Hampstead to be published not less than four times
at weekly intervals in the Carroll County Times, a newspaper
of general circulation in the Town of Hampstead, and the
