Resolution of The Town of Charlestown

Resolution of the Commissioners of The Town of
Charlestown, Maryland adopted pursuant to the authority of
Article XI-E of the Constitution of the State of Maryland
and Article 23A of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1957
edition, as amended), title: "Corporations — Municipal," to
repeal and re—enact the Charter of said Town of Charlestown
as set forth in Sections 25—1 to 25—19, inclusive of Chapter
25 of the Cecil County Code, 1970 edition, title,
"Charlestown."

Whereas, the present Charter of Charlestown, Maryland
was enacted by The Town of Charlestown and has served The
Town of Charlestown as a basic instrument of government for
many years; and

Whereas, the needs of the Town require a more modern
document to help meet the contingencies of modern life; and

Whereas, said document is insufficient in its present
form and language to enable The Town of Charlestown to
properly carry out its mandated functions; and

Whereas, a new and modern Charter has been proposed by
the Commissioners of Charlestown;

[Sections 25-1 through 25-19 of the Code of Public
local Laws of Cecil County, repealed; and Sections 101
through 1403 added, of the Code of Public Local Laws of
Cecil County.

Effective Date December 20, 1978]
