and Supplements), titled "Corporations-Municipal", to add
one new section to the Charter of the City of Annapolis, to
be entitled Section 48-A, to follow Section 48, for the
purpose of creating a type of offense for the violation of
an ordinance, said offense to be called a "municipal
infraction"; any violation of an ordinance which is declared
a municipal infraction shall subject the violator to a fine
not to exceed $100.00; repeat offenders of municipal
infractions may be assessed a fine not to exceed $200.00 for
each repeat offense; each day a violation continues shall,
unless otherwise provided, constitute a separate or repeat
offense; the fine shall be paid by the offender to the City
within 20 calendar days of receipt of a citation; and all
matters relating generally thereto,
WHEREAS, House Bill No. 1735 of the General Assembly of
Maryland was enacted into law as Chapter 735 of the Laws of
Maryland 1978, which authorizes municipalities to deem the
violation of certain ordinances to be "municipal
infractions"; and
WHEREAS, The Mayor and Aldermen of the City of
Annapolis wishes to provide for municipal infractions within
its Charter and Code of Laws.

CITY OF ANNAPOLIS
TO REPEAL AND RE-ENACT
SECTION 2 - OF THE CITY CHAPTER
Resolution of the Mayor and Aldermen of the City of
Annapolis, adopted pursuant to the authority of Article 11—E
of the Constitution of the State of Maryland and Article 23a
of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1973 Replacement Volume
and Supplements), titled "Corporations-Municipal", to repeal
and re-enact Section 2 of the Charter of the City of
Annapolis authorizing two (2) Assistant City Attorneys;
re-enacting all the provisions of Section 2 of the Charter
which are not inconsistent with this amendment; and all
matters relating generally thereto.
[Section 2 of the Charter of Annapolis, Anne Arundel
County, repealed and reenacted, with amendments.
Effective Date October 3, 1978]
