STATE ADMINISTRATIVE BOARD OF ELECTION LAWS
ANNAPOLIS, MARYLAND
Pursuant to the provisions of Section 23-11 of Article
33 of the Annotated Code of Maryland, the State
Administrative Board of Election Laws does hereby certify
that at the General Election held in the State of Maryland
on November 7, 1978, an Act known as Chapter 827 of the Acts
of 1977 was submitted to the voters of St. Mary's County
under the provisions of Article XVI of the Constitution of
the State of Maryland, said Act being as follows:
AN ACT concerning St. Mary's County - Sheriff's Office.
For the purpose of permitting personnel in the Sheriff's
office of St. Mary's County to participate in the merit
system of the County; requiring certain officials to
determine the number of deputy sheriffs necessary for St.
Mary's County; requiring deputy sheriffs of that County to
attend and complete certain training programs; requiring
certain personnel of that County to establish legal
residence in St. Mary's County prior to a certain time;
requiring the Sheriff to supervise his office and furnish
timely reports to certain county officials; and generally
relating to the Sheriff's office for St. Mary's County.
And it is hereby certified that at said election, 4,532
votes were cast for the adoption of said Chapter 827 and
2,144 votes were cast against the adoption of said Chapter
827, the said Chapter 827 of the Acts of 1977 has therefore
been ratified by the qualified voters of St. Mary's County,
Maryland.

Maryland, Done at the City of Annapolis, this 30th day of
November, In the Year of Our Lord, One Thousand, Nine
Hundred and Seventy-Eight.
