House Bill No. 942

AN ACT concerning

Maryland State Retirement Systems - Disability
Retirement

FOR the purpose of denying accidental or special disability
payments in cases of preexisting disability; to permit
annual reexamination of disability retirees under the
normal retirement age; and to grant the board of
trustees of the State Police Retirement System, rather
than the medical board, authority to decide whether a
disability is special.

Dear Mr. Speaker:

In accordance with Article II, Section 17 of the
Maryland Constitution, I have today vetoed House Bill 942.

This bill modifies provisions relating to payment of
accidental or special disability benefits.

Senate Bill 621, which was enacted by the General
Assembly and signed by me on May 29, 1979, accomplishes the
same purpose.

Therefore it is unnecessary for me to sign House Bill
942.
