Senate Bill No- 802

AN ACT concerning

Creation of a State Debt — Johns Hopkins Medical School

FOR the purpose of authorizing the creation of a State Debt
in the amount of $1,000,000, the proceeds to be used
for the construction and equipping of the Preclinical
Teaching Building of the Johns Hopkins School of
Medicine, subject to the provision by the Johns Hopkins
University of at least an equal and matching fund for
the same purpose; and providing generally for the issue
and sale of bonds evidencing the loan.

May 29, 1979
Honorable James Clark, Jr.
President of the Senate
State House
Annapolis, Maryland 21404

Dear Mr. President:

In accordance with Article II, Section 17 of the
Maryland Constitution, I have today vetoed Senate Bill 802.

This bill authorizes the creation of a State debt of
$1,000,000 to be used for the construction and equipping of
the Preclinical Teaching Building of the Johns Hopkins
School of Medicine.

House Bill 1471, which was enacted by the General
Assembly and signed by me on May 29, 1979, accomplishes the
same purpose.

Therefore it is unnecessary for me to sign Senate Bill
802.

Sincerely,
Harry Hughes
Governor
