Ch. 375

Commissioner and $5,000 per annum for the Assistant Jury
Commissioner[; provided, however, such retirement shall be].
RETIREMENT IS mandatory upon attainment of age [seventy] 70
years.

(2) THE SURVIVING SPOUSE OF ANY PERSON ELIGIBLE
FOR THE BENEFITS FOR WHICH PROVISION IS MADE BY THIS SECTION
IS ENTITLED TO ONE HALF OF THOSE BENEFITS IF THE SURVIVING
SPOUSE WAS MARRIED TO THE PERSON ELIGIBLE FOR BENEFITS 5 OR
MORE YEARS PRIOR TO DEATH, AND FOR SO LONG AS SUCH SURVIVING
SPOUSE DOES NOT RE-MARRY.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act
shall take effect July 1, 1979.

Courts - Continuances

FOR the purpose of requiring that in certain circumstances
an attorney entering this appearance his appearance
under certain conditions in a court proceeding may be
granted a continuance; and generally relating to
continuances.

Annotated Code of Maryland

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That section(s) of the Annotated Code of Maryland
be repealed, amended, or enacted to read as follows:

6-409.

IN ANY COURT PROCEEDING, AN ATTORNEY ENTERING HIS
APPEARANCE, IN GOOD FAITH AND NOT FOR PURPOSES OF DELAY, ON
BEHALF OF A CLIENT IS ENTITLED TO MAY BE GRANTED A A
CONTINUANCE, IF AT THE TIME OF ENTERING HIS APPEARANCE HE IS
THE ATTORNEY OF RECORD IN ANY OTHER COURT OR ADMINISTRATIVE
PROCEEDING PREVIOUSLY SCHEDULED FOR A TIME WHICH CAUSES A
