Article 64A known as the Merit System Law, but nothing
therein precludes the Comptroller from applying to the Board
of Public Works for authority to employ personnel on either
a contractual or temporary basis-]

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That Section(s)
157F(k) of Article 56 — Licenses, of the Annotated Code of
Maryland be renumbered to be Section(s) 157F(j).

SECTION 3. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That the

Comptroller of the Treasury, with the approval of the Board
of Public Works, for the fiscal year 1974 may expend amounts

he deems necessary and expedient for the proper

administration and enforcement of this subtitle. This

authority includes but in no way is limited to the

employment of employees he deems necessary. All employees

shall be employed in accordance--with the provisions of

Article 64A known as the Merit System Law, but nothing
therein precludes the Comptroller from applying to the Board
of Public Works for authority to employ personnel on either
a contractual or temporary basis.

SECTION 4 3. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act
shall take effect July 1, 1978.

AN ACT concerning

Motor Fuel Inspection Law — Expenditures
by Comptroller

FOR the purpose of deleting from the codified law those
provisions which relate to the authorization given to
the Comptroller of the Treasury to make certain
expenditures in fiscal year 1970 concerning the Motor
Fuel Inspection Law; and placing those provisions in
the uncodified law.
