976                                            LAWS OF MARYLAND                                 Ch. 62

Preamble

WHEREAS, Board approval was required for expenditures
by the Comptroller to enforce the provisions of the subtitle
"Motor Fuel Inspection Law" for the fiscal year 1970,
including employment of personnel. This section applies
only to fiscal year 1970. Since fiscal year 1970 has
passed, this section is no longer applicable; now,
therefore,

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That section(s) of the Annotated Code of Maryland
be repealed, amended, or enacted to read as follows:

Article 56 — Licenses

[157M.

The Comptroller of the Treasury with the approval of
the Board of Public Works is authorized for the fiscal year
1970 to expend such amounts as he deems necessary and
expedient for the proper administration and enforcement of
this subtitle. This authority includes but in no way is
limited to the employment of such assistants, chemists,
inspectors, clerks, stenographers and other employees as he
deems necessary. All such employees of a personnel nature
shall be so employed in accordance with the provisions of
Article 64A known as the Merit System Law but nothing
therein shall preclude the Comptroller from applying to the
Board of Public Works for authority to employ personnel on
either a contractual or temporary basis.]

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That the

Comptroller of the Treasury with the approval of the Board
of Public Works is authorized for the fiscal year 1970 to
expend each amounts as he deems necessary and expedient for
the proper administration and enforcement of this subtitle.
This authority includes but in no way is limited to the

employment of such assistants, chemists, inspectors, clerks,

stenographers and other employees as he deems necessary.
All such employees of a personnel nature shall be so
employed in accordance with the provisions of Article 64A

shall take effect July 1, 1978.
