(III)       A COMMERCIAL SCHOOL; OR

(IV)       A MILITARY PREPARATORY SCHOOL, IF THE CHILD
IS PREPARING TO ATTEND ONE OF THE UNITED STATES MILITARY
ACADEMIES.

(F) PAYMENT OF SCHOLARSHIP.

(1)       THE SCHOLARSHIP SHALL BE PAID ON VOUCHERS
APPROVED BY THE STATE SCHOLARSHIP BOARD.

(2)         ROOM AND BOARD OF A RECIPIENT WHO LIVES
OFF-CAMPUS SHALL BE PAID ON VOUCHERS APPROVED BY THE
INSTITUTION.

REVISOR'S NOTE: This section is new language derived
without substantive change from Art. 96 1/2, §§
49 and 50.

The present power of the State Scholarship Board
to adopt rules and regulations is deleted as
unnecessary in light of the general rulemaking
power of the Board under §18-203(b) of this
title.

The General Assembly may wish to consider whether
the residency under this section of a prisoner of
war (or person missing in action) should be
determined at the time he became a prisoner or,
as is the case for persons killed or disabled by
military action and prisoners of war under
§18—604 of this subtitle, at the time of his
induct ion.

As to the definition of "child" in this section,
see the revisor's note to §18—601 of this
subtitle.

18-604. PRISONERS OF WAR.

(A)   ESTABLISHED.

THERE IS A PROGRAM OF SCHOLARSHIPS THAT ARE AWARDED
UNDER THIS SECTION.

(B)   QUALIFICATIONS OF APPLICANT.

ANY RESIDENT OF THIS STATE MAY APPLY TO THE STATE
SCHOLARSHIP BOARD UNDER THIS SECTION IF HE:

(1) WAS A PRISONER OF WAR ON OR AFTER JANUARY 1,
1960 AS A RESULT OF THE VIETNAM CONFLICT; AND

HIS

(2) WAS A RESIDENT OF THIS STATE AT THE TIME
INDUCTION INTO THE ARMED FORCES.
