without substantive change from Art. 77A,
§57(d), except the first clause.

18-304. USE OF AWARD.

A GENERAL STATE SCHOLARSHIP MAY BE USED:

(1) AT A DEGREE GRANTING INSTITUTION OF HIGHER

EDUCATION OR A HOSPITAL DIPLOMA SCHOOL FOR TRAINING

REGISTERED NURSES IF THE CURRICULUM IS APPROVED BY THE STATE
BOARD FOR HIGHER EDUCATION; AND

(2) FOR EDUCATIONAL EXPENSES AS DEFINED BY THE
STATE SCHOLARSHIP BOARD. INCLUDING:

(1) (I) TUITION AND FEES; AND

(2) (II) ROOM AND BOARD.

without substantive change from the first clause
of Art. 77A, §57(d).

18-305. DURATION OF AWARD.

EACH RECIPIENT OF A GENERAL STATE SCHOLARSHIP MAY HOLD
THE SCHOLARSHIP FOR 4 YEARS IF HE:

(1)   CONTINUES TO BE A RESIDENT OF THIS STATE;

(2)   CONTINUES TO BE A FULL-TIME STUDENT AT AN ELIGIBLE
INSTITUTION AND TAKES AT LEAST 12 SEMESTER HOURS OF COURSES
EACH SEMESTER;

(3)    IN THE JUDGMENT OF THE INSTITUTION, IS MAKING
SATISFACTORY PROGRESS TOWARD A DEGREE; AND

(4)    MAINTAINS THE DEPARTMENT STANDARDS OF THE
INSTITUTION.

REVISOR'S NOTE: This section presently appears as the
last sentence of Art. 77A, §57(f).

The only changes are in style.

The first sentence of present Art. 77A, §57(f),
which provides that an applicant may apply to any
eligible institution is deleted as inconsistent
with the requirements of §18—302(b) of this
subtitle which requires acceptance before an
award is made.

The second sentence of present Art. 77A, §57(f),
which permits institutions to reject applicants
who fail to meet admission standards is deleted
as unnecessary in light of the similar provisions
of §18-103 of this title.
