VETOES

In accordance with Article II, Section 17 of the
Maryland Constitution, I have today vetoed House Bill 1567.

This bill provides certain officials of municipal
corporations with immunity from civil liability as to
certain claims related to official duties and employment and
requires the governing bodies of municipal corporations to
provide counsel to defend its officials against certain
claims.

As introduced, House Bill 1567 was intended to codify
existing case law. During the legislative process, the bill
was amended extensively. The sponsor has advised me that
House Bill 1567, as enacted, no longer accomplishes the
purpose for which it was intended, and he has requested that
I therefore veto the bill.

For this reason, I have decided to veto House Bill
1567.

This bill adds liters to the list of units in which a
price per unit may be expressed.
