Dear Mr. Speaker:

In accordance with Article II, Section 17 of the
Maryland Constitution, I have today vetoed House Bill 587.

This bill redefines, for purposes of the Pension
Article, the terms "employee," "regular interest," and
"average final compensation".

I have today vetoed Senate Bill 268, which is a
duplicate measure. For the same reasons given in the veto
message accompanying Senate Bill 268, I have decided to veto
House Bill 587.

State Police Retirement System — Definitions

FOR the purpose of redefining, for purposes of the State
Police Retirement System subtitle, the terms "regular
interest," "accumulated contributions," and "average
final compensation"; and restructuring certain
provisions.
