JOINT RESOLUTIONS
Whereas, This Clean Community Program has been proven
dramatically effective in reducing the amounts of litter in
well over 90 cities throughout the United States; and
Whereas, The State of Georgia has recently, officially,
endorsed this program pursuant to statewide implementation;
and
Whereas, The City of Annapolis, Maryland, being the
official state capital and a major tourist center, has
adopted and is implementing the Clean Community Systems
Program; and
Whereas, This program will greatly aid the city in
becoming a better and healthier place to live and work in,
both environmentally and aesthetically, by fostering a
community effort to reduce litter; and
Whereas, The city government in conjunction with the
business and civic communities of Annapolis, as well as the
Office of the Maryland Environmental Trust, are currently
working towards this goal; and
Whereas, The successful culmination of this program
will not only benefit the City of Annapolis, but the entire
State of Maryland, by providing a cleaner capital as well as
a workable model for numerous municipalities throughout the
State to emulate; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF MARYLAND, That the
General Assembly endorses the City of Annapolis and their
Clean Community Systems Program to reduce litter throughout
the city; and be it further
RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution be sent to the
Mayor and City Council of Annapolis, Maryland:
