Maryland has been granted $213,215 to continue its outreach
program for an off—campus baccalaureate program for
registered nurses in eastern and western Maryland; and
WHEREAS, The Maryland Commission for Nursing, as a
vehicle for providing nursing input into policy decisions
regarding health care, recommended in its 1977 Study of
Nursing and Nursing Education in Maryland that the
availability of baccalaureate nursing education in Maryland
for registered nurses should be increased; now, therefore,
be it
RESOLVED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF MARYLAND, That, in
order to augment the pool of baccalaureate level nurses more
rapidly, each postsecondary institution in Maryland offering
a generic baccalaureate nursing program in Maryland be
charged with the responsibility for the recruitment and
admission of registered nurses who are motivated to pursue
such study; and be it further further education at the
Baccalaureate level; and be it further
RESOLVED, That this charge be included in the State
Board for Higher Education's master plan; and be it further
RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution be sent to Dr.
Sheldon H. Knorr, Commissioner of Higher Education, 16
Francis Street, Annapolis, Maryland 21401, for distribution
to the members of the State Board for Higher Education and
to appropriate segments of postsecondary education in
Maryland; Dean Marion Murphy, Chairman, Maryland Commission
for Nursing, c/o School of Nursing, University of Maryland,
Baltimore, Maryland 2 1201; and Mary Spicer, Executive
Director, Maryland Nurses Association, 2315 St. Paul
Street, Baltimore, Maryland 21218.

Clean Community Program of Annapolis
FOR the purpose of endorsing the Clean Community Program
adopted by the City of Annapolis as a model for
municipalities throughout the State.
Whereas, Keep America Beautiful is nationally and
internationally recognized as a major innovative force in
litter reduction through their notable Clean Community
Systems Program; and
