LAWS OF MARYLAND

Ch. 22

DIVISION III - HIGHER EDUCATION

TITLE 11. GENERAL PROVISIONS.

SUBTITLE 1. GENERAL PROVISIONS.

11-101. ADMISSION STANDARDS.

EACH PUBLIC INSTITUTION OF HIGHER EDUCATION SHALL
ACCEPT FOR ADMISSION ANY GRADUATE OF AN APPROVED PUBLIC HIGH
SCHOOL:

(1)   WHO IS CERTIFIED BY HIS HIGH SCHOOL PRINCIPAL,
BASED ON STANDARDS OF THE STATE BOARD OF EDUCATION, AS
QUALIFIED TO PURSUE A COURSE OF STUDY AT THE INSTITUTION; OR

(2)    WHO MEETS THE ADMISSION STANDARDS OF THE
INSTITUTION.

REVISOR'S NOTE: This section presently appears as Art.
77, §82(b).

The present reference to the power of the school
commissioners to set standards for students from
Baltimore City is deleted as obsolete.

The only other changes are in style.

Although this section appears, on its face, to be
somewhat archaic, it is, in fact, still viable.

11-102. PAYMENTS BY CREDIT CARD.

(A)   AUTHORIZED.

EACH PUBLIC INSTITUTION OF HIGHER EDUCATION MAY HONOR
CREDIT CARDS AS PAYMENT FOR:

(1)   TUITION AND FEES; AND

(2)   ROOM AND BOARD.

(B)   BOARD TO DETERMINE WHICH CARDS ARE ACCEPTABLE.

THE GOVERNING BOARDS OF THE INSTITUTIONS SHALL
DETERMINE WHICH CREDIT CARDS ARE ACCEPTABLE FOR THIS
PURPOSE.

(C)   SERVICE FEE.

THE INSTITUTION SHALL CHARGE A SERVICE FEE TO EACH
PERSON WHO USES A CREDIT CARD. THE AMOUNT OF THE SERVICE
FEE SHALL BE ENOUGH TO PAY ANY VENDOR DISCOUNT OR SIMILAR
FEE CHARGED BY THE CREDIT CARD COMPANY.

REVISOR'S NOTE: This section presently appears as Art.
