Section 13-613(d)
Annotated Code of Maryland
(1977 Volume and 1977 Supplement)

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That section(s) of the Annotated Code of Maryland

(as enacted by Chapter ______of the Acts of the General

Assembly of 1978) be repealed, amended, or enacted to read
as follows:

Article - Education

SUBTITLE 11. CHANCELLOR'S SCHOLARSHIP
DISTINGUISHED SCHOLAR PROGRAM

18-1101.

THERE IS A PROGRAM OF CHANCELLOR'S SCHOLARSHIP AT THE

UNIVERSITY OF MARYLAND AWARDED UNDER THIS SUBTITLE. THERE IS

A DISTINGUISHED SCHOLAR PROGRAM OF 100 SCHOLARSHIPS TO BE

AWARDED BY THE STATE SCHOLARSHIP BOARD TO RESIDENTS OF THE
STATE IN THE MANNER PROVIDED IN THIS SUBTITLE FOR USE AT
POSTSECONDARY INSTITUTIONS OF HIGHER EDUCATION IN THE STATE.

18-1102.

(A) EACH RECIPIENT OF A SCHOLARSHIP UNDER THIS

SUBTITLE SHALL:

     (1) BE A RESIDENT OF THIS STATE;

(2) HAVE DEMONSTRATED A RECORD OF OUTSTANDING

ACHIEVEMENT IN A HIGH SCHOOL IN THIS STATE:

(3) BE ACCEPTED FOR UNDERGRADUATE ADMISSION TO
THE UNIVERSITY; AND

(4) BE:

     (I) NOMINATED BY A HIGH SCHOOL GUIDANCE

COUNSELOR AT HIS HIGH SCHOOL OR BY A DEPARTMENT CHAIRMAN,
DEAN OF PROVOST AT THE UNIVERSITY OF MARYLAND; OR

               (II) A NATIONAL MERIT SCHOLARSHIP FINALIST

OR SEMI-FINALIST FROM THIS STATE.

(B) EACH RECIPIENT OF A CHANCELLOR'S SCHOLARSHIP MAY

HOLD THE SCHOLARSHIPS FOR 4 YEARS IF HE:

(1) CONTINUES TO BE A RESIDENT OF THIS STATE;
