AN ACT concerning
Somerset County - Sanitary Commission
FOR the purpose of altering the requirements for membership
on the Somerset County sanitary commission and
providing for enlarging the Somerset County sanitary
commission under certain circumstances.
BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,
Article 43 - Health
Section 649(a)(2-1)

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That section(s) of the Annotated Code of Maryland
be repealed, amended, or enacted to read as follows:
Article 43 - Health
649.
(a) (2-1) (I) The Somerset County sanitary
commission appointed pursuant to the first paragraph above
shall be enlarged from three citizens of such county to five
citizens of such county, no one of whom shall hold any other
office of said county during his term of office on said
commission. As of July 1, 1968, the governing body of
Somerset County shall appoint the two additional members of
the commission provided for herein, whose terms of office
shall commence on the date of appointment, one of whom shall
serve four years and one for two years for their
appointment. At the expiration of each of said terms, the
county governing body shall, at a meeting held not later
than one month prior to July first in each year in which a
vacancy occurs, appoint as a member of the commission a
citizen of the county for which the district is created, for
a term of six years, to succeed the member whose term
expires on June first next succeeding.
(II) There shall be no alteration in the
existing method of appointments at the expiration of the
existing commission in Somerset County.
