certain municipal employees prior service credit, to
delete obsolete and redundant language, to transfer
certain provisions, and to define and clarify certain
terms; correcting certain errors; numbering and
renumbering certain provisions; and making certain
style changes.
BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,
Article 73B - Pensions
Section 9, 11(8)(b) and (12), 23(a), and 27A
Annotated Code of Maryland

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That section(s) of the Annotated Code of Maryland
be repealed, amended, or enacted to read as follows:
Article 73B — Pensions
9.
(1) Under such rules and regulations as the board of
trustees shall adopt, each member who was an employee at any
time during the year immediately preceding the date of
establishment and who becomes a member after the date of
establishment, shall file a detailed statement of all
service as an employee rendered by him prior to the date of
establishment for which he claims credit. Each member who
is an unclassified hourly employee of the State Roads
Commission, or who is an employee by virtue of employment on
a county road system, or who had maintained membership in a
municipality presently participating in the system, as
hereinbefore provided, on June 1, 1943, and who becomes a
member during the first year thereafter, shall file a
detailed statement of all services as an employee rendered
by him prior to June 1, 1943, for which he claims credit.
(2) (A) The board of trustees shall fix and
determine by appropriate rules and regulations how much
service in any year is equivalent to one year of service,
but except as otherwise provided, in no case shall more then
one year of service be creditable for all service in one
calendar year. [The board of trustees, under such rules
and regulations as it shall adopt, shall allow credit,
however, to members absent in the military service during
World War I or within the periods and under the provisions
specified in § 88 of Article 65 of the Annotated Code of
Maryland (1957 Edition as amended), for the period of their
absence, provided that such members were employees when they
entered such military service and within one year from the
date of their discharge again became employees.] Service
rendered for the full normal working time in any year shall
be equivalent to one year's service. Persons holding
elective or appointive positions shall receive a full year's
credit for each full year during which said person has held
or holds such position.] ]
