(C) (1) EACH SENATOR MAY AWARD NOT MORE THAN 10
PERCENT OF THE FUNDS AVAILABLE UNDER THIS SUBTITLE TO
APPLICANTS PLANNING TO ATTEND ACCREDITED UNDERGRADUATE
INSTITUTIONS OUTSIDE THIS STATE. , PROVIDED THE APPLICANT
WILL BE STUDYING IN AN ACADEMIC AREA THAT IS__NOT__ AVAILABLE

IN THIS STATE.

                       (2) IN AWARDING SCHOLARSHIPS UNDER THIS

SUBSECTION, PREFERENCE SHALL BE GIVEN TO APPLICANTS:

                                      (I) STUDYING IN AN ACADEMIC AREA THAT IS

NOT AVAILABLE IN THIS STATE; OR

(II) PLANNING TO ATTEND AN INSTITUTION IN

A STATE THAT ALLOWS ITS RESIDENTS TO USE ITS STATE'S

SCHOLARSHIPS AT UNDERGRADUATE INSTITUTIONS IN THIS STATE.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act
shall take effect July 1, 1978.
