FOR the purpose of amending the procedural requirements for
the appointment of the Director of the Department of
Fiscal Services, and providing for the application and
effect of this Act.

BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,

Article 40 — General Assembly

Section 58(b)

Annotated Code of Maryland

(1971 Replacement Volume and 1977 Supplement)

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That section(s) of the Annotated Code of Maryland
be repealed, amended, or enacted to read as follows:

Article 40 — General Assembly

58.

(b) The Director shall be appointed jointly by the
President and the Speaker [, from a nominee or nominees
proposed to them by the Director of the Department of
Legislative Reference. The President and the Speaker may
reject any proposed list and call for another].

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act
may not be construed or applied to affect the appointment of
or to change any other laws as to the Director of the
Department of Fiscal Services who is in office on the
effective date of this Act.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act
shall take effect July 1, 1978.

Reference; providing for the appointment and tenure of
