LAWS OF MARYLAND
(2)     HOWEVER, THE PERSON ENTITLED TO
POSSESSION OF THE VEHICLE, OR HIS AUTHORIZED
REPRESENTATIVE, MAY DRIVE THE VEHICLE ON HIGHWAYS IN
THIS STATE FOR A DISTANCE OF NOT MORE THAN 200 MILES, BUT
ONLY FROM THE PLACE THAT THE PERSON OR HIS AUTHORIZED
REPRESENTATIVE OBTAINED POSSESSION OF THE VEHICLE TO THE
PERSON'S PLACE OF BUSINESS, RESIDENCE, OR OTHER PLACE
WHERE THE VEHICLE IS TO BE KEPT. DURING THIS OPERATION,
THE REGISTRATION PLATES ISSUED TO THE FORMER OWNER MAY BE
DISPLAYED ON THE VEHICLE. AFTER THIS OPERATION IS
COMPLETED OR, EVEN BEFORE THIS OPERATION IS COMPLETED,
ON REQUEST OF THE FORMER OWNER OR THE ADMINISTRATION,
THE PERSON WHO OBTAINED POSSESSION OF THE VEHICLE
SHALL RETURN ITS REGISTRATION PLATES TO THE FORMER OWNER
OR TO THE ADMINISTRATION. (3)   AFTER 24 HOURS OF THE EARLIER OF THE

DISTRIBUTEE MAY DRIVE THE VEHICLE AND PERMIT IT TO BE
DRIVEN ON THE HIGHWAYS, WITHOUT APPLING APPLYING FOR A

added to conform to the usage appearing in
§13-501 of this subtitle. In subsection (a)(1) of this section, the
phrase "a new registration of the vehicle" is
substituted for "the registration thereof" for
purposes of clarity and to conform to the more
correct language used elsewhere in this
subtitle; cf., §13-503(a). In subsection (a)(2) of this section,
reference to the "former" owner is added to
clarify which owner must make the request.
Also, the present, repeated reference to title

reference to the "earlier ... completion of
the operation" is added for purposes of
